Does Your Current Gas Grill Rust?

Everyone who has ever owned a gas grill has experienced some degree of rusting.  You can keep it covered when not in use and it will still start to rust over time.

Will the Weber Q 320 Gas Grill rust? The answer to that question is given below.  Since most gas grills are fabricated with steel and usually painted black, they all sooner or later begin to rust.  It appears at the corners and where the legs meet the frame.  No matter what you do, steel is going to rust.  Even stainless steel can rust.  High quality stainless steel won’t rust, but it is expensive. So there are a lot stainless steel grills with low-grade stainless steel materials.  Stainless steel is made with nickel and has a chromium-rich oxide coating.  If a manufacturer skimps on these protective materials you’re stainless steel grill will rust also.

Weber Q 320 Gas Grill Materials

The Q 320 is built with corrosion resistant high quality materials.  This means no steel. This means no rust. Lets start with the lid and fire-box.  These are made with cast aluminum, which means no rust.  The cooking grates are cast iron coated with porcelain; granted cast iron can rust, but as long as the protective porcelain-enameled coating remains in tack, then no rust.  Just be careful not to chip the porcelain.  Next are the burners.  These are stainless steel and will not rust.  Most manufacturer’s use stainless steel burners, however, what is the quality of their stainless steel?  The stand assembly consists of the frame, legs and wheels. These are constructed of heavy-duty composite plastics.  All of these materials are highly weather resistant – so say good-by to ugly unsightly rust.
